Ronell’s Story
After receiving a diagnosis for stage 1 colon cancer, Ronell Harvey promptly saw an oncologist to have her tumor removed. Reassured that the procedure was a success and told there was no need to worry, she continued living for three years, blissfully unaware that the disease had continued to grow…
Two years later Ronell learned her cancer had not been completely removed, and the tumor had developed into a stage 4 diagnosis. Given merely 18 months at best to live by her oncologist, Ronell turned to her general practitioner, yearning for hope and advice for a better outcome. “I asked, what do I do? And all he said was, ‘Start making memories.’ I thought, dear Lord, nobody has got any hope for me.”
Determined to keep living for her kids and grandkids, Ronell began researching and decided she would simply have to create her own hope. Searching for a clinic that was actually invested in her wellbeing and not just administering a drug, Ronell stumbled upon Hope4Cancer Treatment Centers and opted to travel from her home in South Africa to Cancun, Mexico and begin her healing journey. Her arrival was marked with a new sense of hope, the removal of fear-based decision making, and the discovery of a treatment path that finally resonated with Ronell’s values: “I love that it’s love here… the doctors don’t just tell you what to do or discredit anything you bring to the table; they listen to you.”
